team testimonials

“He's cool. He's fun. He's one of the nicest human beings to ever exist. Oh, and he's also an extremely intelligent and talented neurologist/epileptologist/podcast host/educator, etc. The fact that I get to work with this extraordinary person is a true blessing.

I initially reached out to Dr. Kentris for guidance during a rough and confusing time in my career. Despite not knowing anything about me at the time, he took me on as his mentee. Following that, we collaborated on some projects before I volunteered wholeheartedly to help him and his platform grow. From the website launch to expanding our team of volunteers, educational resources, and our social media presence, each step of this journey has been enlightening for me.

I've embraced numerous skills and qualities from Dr. Kentris and our team, such as patience, resilience, and fostering a work environment that encourages the free flow of ideas and thoughts. I love being a part of The Neurotransmitters because I believe in our end goal—to provide NeuroEd to aspirants in all phases of their training, across all specialties. I'm excited to see the heights we can achieve; who says the sky's the limit?”

“A wholesome mentor-mentee relationship is hard to come by, but with Dr. Kentris it seems to flow naturally. I often refer to him (to my friends) as “my dream mentor”.

I joined The Neurotransmitters because it was the perfect intersection of creativity, narrative medicine and neurology. Also, Dr. Kentris is an epileptologist and I’m biased. The Neurotransmitters provided a reprieve from the match cycle competitiveness and a place to reconnect with my own values. Not surprisingly, I also ended up connecting with a like-minded person who inspires me to grow on a daily basis.

I am easily the single most annoying person on the team who’s always on his back for one reason or the other. And I never fail to admire the grace and patience he has for me. He has supported and encouraged me on my personal goals, always matching my energy on the overambitious front. For those who have listened to his podcasts, goes without saying, he is an amazing listener and an excellent educator.

I have learned and grown, more than I can say, over the last few months. My motivation to work with The Neurotransmitters has gone from “it’s a good opportunity for me” to “I want to see Dr. Kentris succeed.” I just hope I’m able to give back to him and make a tiny difference in the success of The Neurotransmitters.”

“I still can't believe I can work closely with Continuum's superstar, Dr. Kentris. You may all recognize him for his ASMR-type voice. But he's also a brainstorming master and avid planner.

I came across the hiring announcement for the Neurotransmitters while working on my personal statement for my ERAS app. I don't regret having put that away to apply for my position here. From our first meeting, Dr. Kentris was excited about my ideas and gave me the autonomy to execute them. After hearing his opinion about neurophobia and how it resonated with mine, I knew I had to participate.

I soon realized what a fantastic and inspiring mentor Dr. Kentris is. He has gathered an enthusiastic crew with a passion for neurology education. His support of our decisions and appreciation for our work are always there. Also, we all can agree that he's both a dreamer and a doer, always cooking up new ideas despite his busy schedule.

If you also enjoy teaching neuro, I encourage you to join us. Whether writing neuro-questions or designing an infographic, you'll learn something new. We also have plenty of new plans for the future, or you can bring your own ideas!”
